The Road Back to Me

I have taken every personality typing system under the sun - DISC, MBTI,  Birkman, color personalities - all of 'em.  But let me tell you - all of these assessments pale in comparison to the uncanny accuracy of the Enneagram. The Enneagram is a typology of 9 basic interconnected personality types. I was shocked to discover that the Enneagram is not new on the scene - in fact it's an ancient typing system, that explains everything from fears and motivations to sin patterns to … Read more

One great epiphany from 2018

One great epiphany from 2018 is most friendships - the authentic ones - WILL endure conflict at some point. In 2018, it seemed like I had a conflict with a friend at every turn. First of all, the year started on a sour night as my hubby and I were NOT in a good place. Scratch that - we were in a terrible place.  But God. I will share more about that another time. One of the outcomes of us being in that rough season was the fallout of a friendship. There are so many landmines planted … Read more

Assuming the Worst

I was chatting with one of my best friends the other day about marriage woes. Specifically, the difficulty of giving one another the benefit of the doubt. Like, that being our default when we interact with one another rather than assuming the worst. Seems simple, right? Yeah, no. Not always. The beginning of 2018 was rough for Q and I. Like, really rough. Maybe I'll share more at some point, but for now just know that it was ROUGH. Once the dust settled, and we were able to talk … Read more

Challenges + Choices

I know, I know...like, who do I think I am coming back on the scene after all this time?! I wanted to share something God placed on my heart yesterday and there is no better place to journal those thoughts than this little blog that was once such a fun little project of mine. Who knows...maybe I'll get my thoughts together more often and post more. We'll see. Anyway, back to God. And my heart. So, my party of 5 stopped by a kids shoe store yesterday that is going out of business… Read more

White Sneaks + Black Tights | Testimony

I traveled to California this week for work. I've always packed pretty light, but I try to pack even lighter these days since I have extra equipment to carry (breast pump). So other than the Chucks I wore on the flight there, I only packed 1 pair of heeled boots. I realized the other day as I repacked my bag to fly from Orange County to San Francisco for the second half of my trip, that there was no way I was going to try to trek through the airport with my boots on, so I slipped … Read more

The Also Principle

Let's talk about my home for a second. It is my job to make my home a sanctuary. A peaceful place. An environment where my husband feels respected. A home where my children thrive. Where the neighborhood kids love to hang out. Where friends and family feel comfortable and at home. A clean home. Where grace is extended and God's love is apparent.  But here's the million dollar question...HOW do I create this kind of sanctuary on top of working, trying to be a good wife and… Read more

Relax

My word of the year is RELAX. I already knew I was a bit neurotic, controlling, and always worried about everything. Having a baby has magnified that. I'm worried sometimes to the point of exhaustion.  It sucks the life out of you when you try to be in control, yet you are COMPLETELY out of control. My worry often translates to nagging my hubby. While getting ready to take baby girl to the pedi last week, hubby sat her car seat on the kitchen counter...and I nearly had a heart at… Read more

Project 52 | Week 14: What is a friend?

What is a friend?  According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, a friend is one attached to another by affection or esteem. I was encouraged this week by David and Jonathan's affection and esteem for one other in 1 Samuel. Two very important aspects of friendship stood out to me while reading about David and Jonathan: 1. A friend is someone who will give you the shirt off their back when you need it. Then Jonathan made a covenant with David, because he loved him as his own soul. A… Read more

Project 52 | Week 7: Overwhelmed

This week I read Numbers 3-17. And boy am I put off by the people of Israel. Each chapter, I am completely in awe of Moses and how he stood firm and didn't throw his hands up at all of the complaining and griping the people were doing when they fell on hard times. Even God was getting irritated at their fickleness and threatened to wipe them all out a couple times. But Moses trusted God, interceded on the behalf of the people, and kept it moving. In Numbers 11, the people found y… Read more

Project 52 | Week 5 & 6 + Link-Up!

Hey there! I can't believe it's been almost 2 weeks since I last posted. Things have been really hectic around here. I was in Nashville for work last week and had every intention to post while I was there, but with the early mornings coupled with late nights, I had zero motivation to do anything besides sleep during my down time. The little break was nice but I'm back! Did you miss me? :) Soooo...Project 52. I'm just going to be honest and admit that my reading has be… Read more

Project 52 | Week 4: Believe Him + Link-Up!

This week, I read Exodus 13 through 32. And once again, there were several take-a-ways. The biggest reminder that I walked away with was that the Lord is in control. I don't have to be fearful. And he's fighting for me and making a way out of no way. The Lord will fight for you, and you have only to be silent. - Exodus 14:14 Thus the Lord saved Israel that day from the hand of the Egyptians, and Israel saw the Egyptians dead on the seashore. Israel saw the great power that the … Read more

Project 52 | Week 3: God's Perfect Plan & Purpose + Link-Up!

3 weeks down...49 more to go! ha! And I'm already slacking...big time. But I'm not giving up. This is a very important challenge for me this year, so I'm sticking to it. I think I can, I think I can.  This past week I read Genesis 43 through Exodus 12. I forgot how amazing of a book Genesis is. I was kind of sad to leave it behind, but excited to move on to a new book.  My biggest takeaway this week centered around God's perfect plan & purpose .  In Genesis 45, Jose… Read more

Project 52 | Week 2: Sibling Rivalry + Link-Up!

This past week, I read Genesis 25-42. I'm so thankful for the richness and relevance of God's word. It's truly timeless and contains all of the answers to life's questions. There were so many awesome nuggets throughout those 17 chapters, but there is 1 main theme that struck me the most... Sibling Rivalry Starting with the first siblings in the Bible, Cain & Abel, sibling rivalry has been a very real consequence of the fall.  In the course of time Cain brought to th… Read more

Sometimes Life Just Gets Busy

...and when life gets busy, I tend to prioritize everything else but the one thing that matters the most...unhurried time with the Lord. And as a result, I'm left feeling depleted. With nothing to give. Nothing to give God. Nothing to give those around me...including the closest person to me...my husband. And then I start feeling a distance from God. But I always remember this pin when I start feeling that way. According to Luke 6:45, the good person out of the good treasure of hi… Read more
