2012 Year in Review...According to My iPhone

I have over 2,000 pictures on my iPhone.
So I figured it was time to start transferring some of them to my computer.
And as I was going through them, I realized just how much happened this past year.
Then it hit me...duh....a year in review blog post was totally in order.

And so I bring you my 2012 Year in Review....According to my iPhone.

January

Your eyes aren't deceiving you.
I found out I was preggers on January 27th.
And on January 28th, I miscarried at 4 weeks.

I experienced a range of emotions during that time.
But you know what...I didn't really feel sadness.
I think it's because it all happened so fast...less than 24 hours to be exact.

I still often think about why God wanted me to know I was pregnant. And you're probably wondering what I mean by that, huh? Basically, my friend Kim had arranged for a group of us to go skydiving for her 30th birthday on January 28th. I had a feeling I might be pregnant, so I bought a couple of home pregnancy tests & scheduled a last minute doctor's appointment on the afternoon of the 27th. My doctor confirmed I was pregnant so I of course had to cancel skydiving. I woke up on the morning of the 28th and {I'll spare you the details} knew I needed to call my doc & head over to the ER. Anyway, I say I wonder why God wanted me to know I was pregnant because if it wasn't for skydiving, I wouldn't have scheduled that last minute doctor's appointment the day before. And would've just assumed that I was starting my cycle late because at that point I would've only been 4 days late. I have thought about this off and on over the past year, and haven't come to any conclusion.

And now that we are ready to start a family, I'm definitely a little nervous and have a lot of questions. What if I have another miscarriage? What if I'm further along this time? What if it takes me a long time to get pregnant? What if I can't carry to term for some reason? What if I NEVER get pregnant? WHEW.

When I start with the 20 questions, God brings Jeremiah 29 to remembrance:

"...For I know the plans that I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you," declares the Lord, "and I will bring you back from captivity...." - Jeremiah 29:11-14a

So rather than question a future I have no control over, I'm trusting the Lord with His plans for my life. And I'm thankful for this experience & all it taught me about myself.

February

My hubby's father passed away in February. He didn't really have much of a relationship with him as a kid...or as an adult. But he decided to go to the funeral to pay his last respects...and for closure. He met 2 of his half brothers for the first time and a slew of other family members. It was definitely a bittersweet time for him...for us. And I'm so glad I was able to be there for him.

March

My friend Robin invited me & 10 other girls to a weekend crafting retreat at an adorable B&B. I love scrapbooking and crafts but rarely make time for either. So needless to say that it was a ton of fun and a VERY relaxing time. Looking forward to the next retreat!

The momentum continued after the retreat {evidenced in the photo above}.
Who knew tape + water colors + a canvas could keep little people quiet for so long?

April

Hubby & the Easter Bunny taking a quick pic at church on Easter.
While real kids wait in line to take a picture. ;)

I traveled to Nashville in April to meet up with some of my college girlfriends! We all live in different places now (Dallas, Memphis & Atlanta) so we only get to see each other a couple times a year. And there are usually husbands, kids, and other interruptions around. :) So it was SO nice to just have a girls' weekend...with no interruptions. The weather was icky that weekend but it didn't matter because we definitely kept each other entertained!

May

{1} By May, it was warm enough for swimming. So we took Kendall & my nephew, Dominick, to the interactive fountain nearby to release some kid energy.

{2} Thanks to Pinterest, I made a few Quick Bread in a Jar Mother's Day gifts for a few deserving moms in our community.

Us & 3 other couples took a little 2-hour road trip to Granbury for a Memorial Day Weekend Couples Retreat. It was an a-ma-zing weekend! We learned a lot about each other, challenged one another, encouraged one another, ate REALLY good, and even had a little fun. ;)

June

{1} Going away party for my good friend, Brittany, who traveled to Australia & Uganda for a 6-month discipleship program. I love her. She's so amazing.

{7} Coffee date with my friends, Brittany & Heather.

{8} Our tree!

So typical of me to let a whole year go by without reflecting on where I've been.
And where I'm going.
So I had a lot of fun putting this post together.
I'm excited for the new year & all that's in store.
And about documenting it ALL here on my blog. :)

The unfailing love of the LORD never ends! By his mercies we have been kept from complete destruction. Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each day. I say to myself, "The LORD is my inheritance; therefore, I will hope in him!" - Lamentations 3:22-24
