Faux Fur & Leather + My Birthday Weekend

It's my birthday y'all...heyyyyyyyyy! Happy birthday to me!

As I reflect on the last year, I am grateful and have very few regrets. It's amazing to see that even the hard stuff I've experienced turned out to be for good. And I am eager to find out what the Lord has in store for me next.

About 2 weeks ago I pinned this outfit recently worn by one of the fab style bloggers I follow: Courtney Kerr. Other than the fur vest, I already had very similar pieces in my closet. Gotta love shopping your own closet! I know I do.

Leather AND fur just seemed fitting for a birthday celebration so I decided to rock this look for my birthday dinner with the fam and friends. And I FINALLY got to wear my new Zara heels that I told you about!

:: Details ::
top: Old Navy (here)
vest: JCPenney (here)
skirt: Urban Outfitters (here | last worn here)
necklace: Francesca's Collections (similar here)
watch: Michael Kors (gifted)
polka dot tights: JCPenney
shoes: Zara (here)

This guy here pulled out all the stops for my dinner! We took a trip to New Orleans with 10 of our dearest friends for my birthday last year, so I really wanted this year's birthday festivities to be low key. My aunt, uncle, and cousin were going to be in town visiting from Atlanta, so I told my hubby that I just wanted to have a nice quiet dinner with family.

When we arrived at the restaurant, I saw that a few of my family members were already seated. And as I walked up to the table, I saw all of this! A beautifully decorated table complete with lovely centerpieces and linens! In my fav color...purple. So pretty! My hubby did so good. ;)

And the very best part...look at all these lovely people he rallied together to come out and celebrate with me!

Clockwise (from top left):
My cousin Sharonda & her hubby, John; our friends, Willie & Kim; our friends, Derrick & Robin; and my Aunt Phyllis and Uncle Julius

My beautiful cousin, Tiffany, who was solo this night because her hubby stayed back in Atlanta.

My very excited mother-in-law with Willie & Kim :)

My parents were in attendance too, but we couldn't get a good picture of them without one of them (or both of them) blinking their eyes so I was strictly forbidden from posting any pics of them. ;)

The live band was awesome!

And we topped the night off with my ultimate favorite dessert...cupcakes!

On Sunday (my actual birthday), we went to church, then headed over to my parents' side of town. Had an awesome girls' lunch with my mom, aunt, and cousin at one of my fav Mexican restaurants.

After lunch, we stopped by my grandma's nursing home to spend a little time with her! She is a healthy 91-year-old firecracker! Still sassy as ever. :)

All in all, I had a great birthday weekend! I honestly couldn't have asked for more.

Blessed beyond measure,
