One Man's Junk is My Treasure

We've been in our house now for a little over 3 months. Before we moved in to the house, we sold a lot of our old furniture and started with a blank canvas. I bought the old furniture shortly after I graduated from college and, needless to say, my style has evolved quite a bit over the years. I knew it would drive me a little bit crazy to have to start fresh with a mostly empty house...I am definitely that girl that likes to buy and decorate everything at once. But there are only so many hours in a day and, last time I checked, money doesn't grow on trees. So I put a plan together to tackle one room at a time.

As time went on, I realized that I needed to get smarter with my purchases. Meaning everything didn't have to be brand new. Most of the stuff in my house came from my favorite discount stores like World Market, Target, Home Goods, Marshall's, Kirkland's, overstock.com, etc. But even shopping at those places can get pricey...especially when it comes to purchasing bigger pieces of furniture.

Soooo I turned to thrifting and rehabbing used furniture. I found that the hardest part is finding good solid pieces but, once you score a diamond in the ruff, you're golden. As much as I would've loved to paint the pieces I found myself, my hubby wasn't having it, so I set out to find someone locally that could paint and/or reupholster for me. I found a sweet lady named Lisa of Heavenly Tresors' Designs and the rest is history.

Here are a few before & after pics of the pieces Lisa painted/reupholstered for me:

See my dining room inspiration here.

Lisa does beautiful work at extremely affordable prices. I love how everything turned out! If you live in the DFW area, check her out. She's amazing to work with!

My hubby also gets a well-deserved shout out for spray painting a couple of pieces for the nursery.

My parents gave us an old glider and ottoman...hubby spray painted it a glossy white.

And I found this little side table on clearance at Target and he spray painted it gold.

I find myself bypassing retail stores for thrifted furniture pieces these days. I mean seriously...why spend an arm and a leg for furniture when you don't have to?! Loving how everything is coming together in the house!

36 Week Update

36 WEEK UPDATE

Due date?
September 16th

How far along?
36 weeks + 1 day!

How big is baby?
According to BabyCenter.com: Your baby is still packing on the pounds — at the rate of about an ounce a day. She now weighs almost 6 pounds and is more than 18 1/2 inches long (about the size of a head of romaine lettuce).

Cravings?
Honey Nut Cheerios

How I feel?
My body is so achy at this stage. The simplest activities tire me out and my back is always killing me. But I guess all of that comes with the territory. ;)

Showing?
Per my last OB appointment, I've gained about 40 pounds.

Movement?
I actually had a little bit of a scare a couple weeks ago. I wasn't feeling her moving very much so I called my OB and she told me to head to the hospital to get checked out. Thankfully, the fetal tones were good and she was somewhat active during the sonogram so I was sure I would get to go home. Well turns out my amniotic fluid was low. The minimum measurement should be 8 but I was measuring around 6.8. So I ended up having to stay overnight with an IV stuck to my arm. By about 1 o'clock the next day, my fluid was back up to 8 and I was able to go home. It's just so flippin hot here in Texas so I have to stay super hydrated, which I have been since my little hospital stay. My fluid was up to 12 at my OB appointment last Thursday...yay!

Gender?
Baby Webb is a girl! Read all about the gender reveal here.

Looking forward to?
Just meeting her. And kissing her.

Sleeping OK?
Yep, still sleeping pretty well. With the occasional late night trip to the bathroom. And I'm starting to wake up earlier...with no alarm clock. If you know me, you know that is unheard of! I rarely wake up without an alarm clock. Guess my body is getting ready for around the clock care of an infant.

Next Doctor's Appointment?
Thursday, August 30th

Prayer Requests?
For me and my baby girl - for a continued healthy pregnancy.

To make it at least one more week to 37 weeks (full term).

I'm in full on nesting mode, so please pray that I would take it easy while still getting the important things taken care of before baby gets here.

For heart, mind, and spirit as I mentally, physically and spiritually prepare for the responsibility of raising a child.

Check out past updates!

Ode to My Favorite Twins

So if you follow me on Instagram...or if you know me personally...you know that I have a major crush on Tia & Tamera. I seriously love everything about them. I've always said that there are no celebrities that I would really care to meet or freak out over...with the exception of these two.

Allow me to explain why I love them so...

#1. They love their family. They not only have a deliciously amazing, brutally honest, and hilarious bond as sisters, but they adore their husbands and their precious baby boys. I love watching them balance their roles as wives, mothers, sisters, and friends along with their successful careers.

#2. Um, hello style icons. I am in LOVE with their style. So pulled together yet so effortless. They seriously look amazing in everything they wear...from day time casual chic to evening glam. Their style is fabulous in every way. Tia seems to be much more of a risk taker where Tamera seems to opt for a more conservative boho look. Both styles are fab and suits their personalities so well. I'd honestly love to shop either of their closets.

#3. That hilarious laugh. It cracks me up. So funny how tickled they become at corny jokes. And love how they can totally laugh at themselves.

#4. So talented. They really are. They're great actresses. They can sing. They have a hit reality show. They have a great life & style blog. And they're ultimate entrepreneurs. They've written books, filmed yoga videos, and created all natural products for moms. Again, all while balancing marriage, babies, family, and friendships. AND looking fab at the same dang time.

#5. Jerome's in the houssssssseee! Love, love, love their relationship with their cousin, Jerome. They get SO excited when he comes to visit. They're like 3 peas in a pod...yes 3 peas. ;) And it cracks me up how they're always sniffing him. haha! Love seeing the three of them together.

There are so many more reasons to love them...too many to list in one blog post. But in case you weren't completely clear of my love for them before...you should be clear now. Seriously...what's not to love? ;)

Do share...who's your celeb crush?

Ready to Pop | Baby Shower

A couple weekends ago, my mom and besties threw me and Baby Webb a lovely shower. It was a beautiful event so, of course, I wanted to share it with all of you!

The theme was 'Ready to Pop' and everything from the decor to the yummy food was poppin! :)

There was a yummy spread...complete with chicken salad sandwiches, sliders, fruit kabobs, cake pops, and more!

Some of my beautiful guests that came out to help me celebrate! Love ALL of these ladies!

One of the most adorable guests...baby Jaelah graced our presence toward the end of the shower! Isn't she gorg!? Such a sweet baby!

Game time! There was no set agenda for the shower. There were game stations and my guests were instructed to visit each station at their leisure, which created more time for food and fellowship. The game stations included decorating onesies, writing funny/encouraging notes on diapers, a Guess the Celeb game, and a name generator game using letters from me and hubby's names.

My fabulously gorgeous hostesses...Mom, Veronica, Jaclyn, and Kim!

Opening gifts!

And one last shot with my besties! Sooo grateful for these ladies. It is truly a blessing to have women who love you, pray for you, encourage you, laugh with you, cry with you, and share life's special moments with you. I pray my baby girl surrounds herself with beautiful people like these amazing women.

Me & my baby daddy! :)

And an extra special shout out to my #1 bestie. My mama. My biggest cheerleader. My love. She is everything to me. I pray I can be half of the mother to my girl that she is to me. And isn't she a hottie, y'all!?

I was actually kind of sad when the shower was over. It's not often that I get to see and squeeze so many of my favorite people at the same time. I felt so loved and so grateful for each and everyone that came to shower me and my girl. It was a beautiful day that I won't soon forget!
